Avoiding Fare Surprises

Tipping Etiquette

  • Standard tip: 20% of the fare.
  • Adjust based on service quality, driver’s helpfulness, and cab cleanliness.
  • Round up to the nearest significant amount for convenience.

Payment Options

  • Cash and credit cards are widely accepted.
  • Credit card payments may incur a $3 fee.
  • Consider using ride-sharing apps for cashless transactions.

Booking Convenience

  • Book in advance via phone, website, or app.
  • Be aware of potential booking or cancellation fees.

Fare Variables

  • Factors affecting fare: traffic, time, day, events, and terminal of origin.
  • Inform your driver of your preferred route.

Avoid the Airport Tunnel Route

  • Specify Paradise Road or Swenson Avenue instead of the airport tunnel, UNLESS your destination is Downtown, far North Strip, or West Flamingo Road.
  • “Long-hauling” can increase fares, and is against the policy of the Taxi Cab Authority.

Designated Taxi Stands

  • Use designated taxi stands for pickups.
  • Avoid stopping on the Strip to prevent traffic disruptions.
  • Comply with regulations to ensure a smooth experience.

Cost-Saving Tips

  • Share cabs with others to split the fare.
  • Opt for mini-van cabs for group travel.
  • Be cautious of kickbacks from businesses; choose destinations wisely.
