The Hotel Apache was ahead of its time. It was the first hotel in Las Vegas to air-condition its lobby, providing respite from the desert heat. Imagine Hollywood icons like Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, and Lucille Ball gracing its elegant halls. Benny Binion, the visionary behind Binion’s Gambling Hall, recognized its potential and acquired the hotel in 1951. Under his ownership, the Hotel Apache became a hub for entertainment, luxury, and excitement.
The Hotel Apache was more than just a place to rest—it was an experience. It boasted the first electrically operated elevator in Las Vegas, whisking guests to their rooms with modern efficiency. The casino floor, fully carpeted, welcomed gamblers to try their luck. Poker, once a niche game, gained mainstream popularity within these walls. The Hotel Apache was where legends were made and where the spirit of adventure thrived.
Over its 90-year history, the Hotel Apache has accumulated stories of spirited guests who refuse to leave. Employees have felt gentle touches, seen fleeting figures, and encountered inexplicable phenomena. Ghost hunters’ EMF meters spike and mediums glimpse images of past owners’ family members. The Hotel Apache and Binion’s Gambling Hall remain a haven for both the living and the otherworldly.
Today, the Hotel Apache has been lovingly restored, offering 81 rooms styled to evoke the elegance of the 1930s. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a gambler, or a curious traveler, a stay here promises an unforgettable experience. Book your room, immerse yourself in the past, and share your encounters with the spirits that still roam these hallowed halls.

* Please note that resort fees can change over time, so it’s always a good idea to double-check with the respective hotels for the most up-to-date information
Hotels in Las Vegas usually charge resort fees ranging from $25 to $50 per night to cover amenities like internet access, fitness room, pool usage, phone calls, and more. However, there are ways to avoid or minimize these fees. Plan ahead, stay informed about each hotel’s policies and offers, and optimize your budget while ensuring a memorable experience without hefty resort fees.
Choose Hotels Without Resort Fees: Opt for hotels in Las Vegas that do not impose resort fees. Examples include Binion’s Hotel Apache, Casino Royale, the Four Queens, and Hotel Jefe (formerly the Lucky Club).
Pay with Casino Players Club Points: Use accumulated Casino Players Club points to pay for your room, bypassing the need for a credit card and associated resort fees. Alternatively, collect points during your stay and use them to cover resort fees at the end of your trip. Check for higher-tier status in the casino players club, as some tiers may include waiving resort fees as a membership privilege.
Request a Waiver: If you encounter service issues during your stay, approach the front desk clerk or manager politely and explain the situation. Though not guaranteed, they may consider waiving the resort fee as a goodwill gesture.
Look for No-Resort-Fee Promotions: Keep an eye out for special promotions offered by Las Vegas casino resorts, where they temporarily waive the resort fee. Check for these promotions when making reservations to take advantage of any available offers.
Research and Compare: Before booking a hotel, thoroughly research resort fees charged by different establishments and compare costs, amenities, and reviews to find the best value for your money.
Consider All-Inclusive Packages: Some hotels offer all-inclusive packages that include the resort fee, providing a transparent and potentially cost-effective option for your stay.
Use Points to Book Your Room: Utilize loyalty points to have resort fees entirely waived when booking your stay.
Utilize Elite Hotel Status: Join hotel loyalty programs to become eligible for waived resort fees.
Negotiate with the hotel: If issues arise during your stay, politely ask the desk clerk or manager to waive the resort fee.
Dispute Charges with Your Credit Card: If you are unfairly charged resort fees, consider disputing the charge with your credit card issuer, providing valid reasons for the dispute.
Resort fees are additional charges collected directly by hotels and are separate from the room rate. They cover amenities and services provided to guests during their stay.
These fees are not included in the initial booking cost and are due at check-out.
Resort fees, also known as destination fees or amenity fees, are additional charges that hotels in Las Vegas and other tourist destinations may add to your bill.
Hotels often charge resort fees to cover the cost of basic amenities that guests usually expect to be included in their stay, such as Wi-Fi access, access to the pool, and gym facilities. Another reason why Las Vegas hotels charge a daily resort fee is to avoid paying high commissions to third-party booking companies. Additionally, charging resort fees allows hotels to have higher placement in search results ranked in order of lowest to highest daily room rates.
Common Resort Fee inclusions are:
While it may seem confusing, hotels manage resort fees independently of the quoted nightly room rate. Quoted prices never include these fees, leading to potential surprises at check-out.
Many hotels in Las Vegas add resort fees to their rates, but there is no legal obligation or municipal ordinance requiring them to do so. However, there are a few hotels that do not charge resort fees. It is important to take this into account when comparing prices. Keep in mind the potential savings.
No. Unfortunately, you cannot opt out of paying the resort fee. It’s mandatory regardless of whether you use the included amenities or not.
On the Strip, they can be between $35 and $50 per night. Away from the Strip, fees range from $25 to $40 per night.
Uncertain. The legality of resort fees is a subject of debate. While some argue that they are legal, others contend that they are not. Transparency and clear communication about these fees are essential factors in determining their legal standing.
15.38% is the total tax applied to your hotel charges, including resort fees.
Hotels in Clark County, which includes the Las Vegas Strip and downtown Las Vegas, impose a transient lodging tax of 13.38% and a Clark County room tax of 2% on hotel rooms. The total tax is 15.38% of the rental charge, including resort fees. When booking a hotel, keep in mind the taxes and plan your budget accordingly to avoid surprises at check-out.
Nevada Resident Exemption: Nevada residents may be exempt from the lodging tax for stays of 30+ days if they show ID proving their residency at check-in. For stays less than 30 days, the regular tax applies.
Yes. The transient lodging tax and Clark County room tax are applied to the total amount charged to the guest, including any resort fees.
For example, if a guest books a room with a nightly rate of $100 and the hotel charges a $30 resort fee, the total taxable amount would be $130 ($100 room rate + $30 resort fee). The transient lodging tax and Clark County room tax would then be applied to this total amount.
So, if the transient lodging tax rate is 13.38% and the Clark County room tax rate is 2%, the total taxes on the $130 room charge would be:
Transient Lodging Tax: 13.38% of $130 = $17.40
Clark County Room Tax: 2% of $130 = $2.60
Total Taxes: $17.40 + $2.60 = $20.00
